Ten reasons to join the Trust PDF Print E-mail

Over the last few days people have been asking “why should I join the Sky Blue Trust?” So in response we have drawn up ten reasons you should join….
  1. Make a difference – The more people who join the more people will sit up and take notice of what we say on YOUR behalf, including the Football Club, ACL and Coventry City Council.
  2. Support the Club – The Sky Blue Trust is independent from the Football Club, but does want the football club to be successful, if however we think they are doing something wrong i.e. the changing of the Club’s badge, similarly if we think they are doing something right we will tell them i.e. regular meeting with the Supporters Consultation Group allowing supporters to bring issues that affect them directly to the Club.
  3. To have a say – Coventry City Council and the Higgs Charity have already stated they will talk to supporters through the Trust, and we regularly talk to Club officials, we are officially recognised by all these parties who are willing to work with us to ensure supporters are not kept in the dark.
  4. It is YOUR Trust – The Trust Board is not on any ego-trip but are voted onto the board by the Trust’s members, who ultimately drive the Trust forward.
  5. Democratically controlled – Every member of the Board, including the Chair, must stand down after a maximum of three years, if they wish to continue they must be re-elected.
  6. Help shape the future – The more members we have the more of an influence we can become. As supporters we all want to see a successful Coventry City Football Club both on an off the pitch.
  7. Raise funds for CCFC – When the Academy faced being downgraded to a Centre of Excellence, Joe Elliott, then a Director of CCFC approach the Sky Blue Trust to raise much needed funds. These funds were then used to pay a specific invoice which helped ensure the continued survival of our Academy.
  8. Don’t get lost in the crowd – By having one voice it ensure the supporters of Coventry City Football Club are heard, every member has one vote and everyone is equal. You’ve seen it at match days one person tries to start and song and it makes no difference, but then when we all get together we can see the difference we make.
  9. Is a part of a bigger picture – The Sky Blue Trust is a member of Supporters Direct, who have been involved with supporters at football clubs have survived administration. The Supporters’ Trust has been a crucial feature of that survival. In some, they have provided significant funds towards the reconstruction of the business. In others, they have mobilised the supporters and the local community and generated interest in the club that has convinced local businesses and individuals to come forward. The Trust can be involved in regular discussions with all the key players in the any negotiations regarding the club's future, if the worst happened, meeting with the administrator, prospective bidders, Coventry City Council, as well as garnering support and advice from other Trusts that have been through similar experiences.
  10. The Sky Blue Trust needs YOUYOU can make a difference.
