Given the reported current potential takeover situation at Coventry City Football Club, the Sky Blue Trust has, reluctantly, accepted that if CCFC is to avoid the catastrophic ramifications of administration, minority shareholders may have to accept relinquishing their shareholding to Mr Ranson & SISU to smooth the deal through. In administration the current shares would almost certainly be worthless, as indeed already the case with the shares in a club with a reported +£38m debt.

  Although, if we were required to, the sale of our own CCFC shares would go against our aims as a Trust - of encouraging and endorsing the ownership of shares by supporters – we recognise that a sacrifice may need to be made to ensure the ongoing existence of our club, and in such circumstances we would do so in order for the takeover to go through, and for the club to avoid administration.  

The Sky Blue Trust would, therefore, affirm that by encouraging this action in assisting our club in its hour of need that it does not in any way endorse closing the door on our aspiration of supporter share ownership, and indeed full supporter representation. We hope to continue our positive dialogue with Mr Ranson and SISU and will request an opportunity to discuss this with the consortium at the first available opportunity on how we can progress towards achieving these objectives, for the best possible future for all concerned with the club. 

We will also be seeking to discuss with the new owner(s) a new share issue where the Trust and fellow supporters can invest, support and share in the future success of the football club.

To secure a positive future of our team, all stakeholders need to play a part in ensuring that future decisions are undertaken in the best interests of the club as a stable, open & transparent institution.

The Sky Blue Trust hopes that any existing shareholders who maybe negatively affected by both the club’s current financial position, and any possible confirmed deal, will join with the Trust to support our concerted efforts in ensuring that all supporters are given opportunities in re-investing in a stable, prosperous and successful club.

The Sky Blue Trust recognises that many have contributed to the success of our club through the generations. We encourage all Coventry City supporters to join with us, enhancing our collective influence, through what is already an established, organised & democratic Supporters Group with the largest membership of any formal Coventry City Supporters organisation.
